If you don’t have a rice cooker, go buy one now! Really, the new fuzzy logic rice cookers are amazing. I’ve used mine 12 times in the 13 days I’ve owned it. And no, I haven’t been constantly eating rice. You can prepare all sorts of dishes in the rice cooker. (more…)

Going solo in the kitchenThis cookbook is a great reference book for the solo cook. All the recipes are scaled for one and there is exceptional shopping advice and leftover suggestions specifically for single cooks. The recipes are what I would call “regular” – there’s nothing too fancy here but nothing gross (i.e. using lots of processed products) either. This book is kind of like the Joy of Cooking for single cooks.

I always feel guilty when I eat fried food for dinner and not the carrot & celery stick diet the media claims I should follow. But, I never feel too guilty because current nutritional research says not all fat is bad. (more…)
